Holy Trinity C of E

Primary School

“Every child, every chance, every day.”

Reception

Important Weekly Dates

P.E - Every Friday

Book Bags - Every Day

Reading Days - Wednesdays and Thursdays

Our new topic next half term is called 'Journeys'.

In Reception we will be reading the story 'Handa's Surprise'.

It’s about a little girl who goes on a journey to surprise a friend. She initially has a basket of seven different fruits. However, there is a twist at the end of the story as Handa delivers a surprise basket of fruit. Perhaps you could ask your child to explain the story to you and why Handa was surprised. Please click on the link below to watch the story.

To support this story and the children’s learning, we will be looking at different cultures and discussing the similarities and differences between them. We will be painting African animals and making observational drawings of fruits; looking closely at each piece to try and correctly paint the shape, size and colour. We will also be making fruit kebabs and tasting and writing about our favourite fruits.

We have set homework for the child to do over the holidays – please let your CHILD complete it.

Thank you for your continued support!

Have a lovely Easter break - resting and enjoying family time.

HANDA'S SURPRISE

This half term our topic is 'farm/animals' and the text we will be focusing on is 'The Little Red Hen'.

The children are becoming confident at using all the story telling actions.

Ask your child to retell you the story of 'The Little Red Hen'.

Do you have other farm books or traditional tales you can read together at home?
